GRiD Training Academy introduces session on Flexible Benefits

Press release 3 May 2022.

GRiD, the industry body for the group risk protection sector, will be running a new training session on Flexible Benefits to provide delegates with a broad understanding of how group protection benefits operate within an employer’s flexible benefit programme.

Free to GRiD members, the session is designed for individuals with some group risk experience and knowledge and will cover what flexible benefits are, how they operate, taxation, reasons for introducing flex, typical benefits, pricing structures, and take up rates.

Katharine Moxham, spokesperson for GRiD said: "It’s important that as an industry we put ourselves in the shoes of HR and employee benefits teams at employers. Group risk is a significant part of any employee benefits package but we mustn’t lose sight of the fact that it is part of a greater whole with which HR and EB teams must grapple.

“This session is ideal for anyone with some working knowledge of group risk but who wants to understand how it integrates into a flexible benefits programme.”

Session information:

  • 17 May 2022, 10:30am.
  • 1 online session of 45 minutes.
  • The sessions will count towards 45 minutes of CPD.
  • The course is free to employees of GRiD members and there is no limit on the number of delegates from a single member firm.

Group Risk Development (GRiD) is the industry body for the group risk sector, promoting the value to UK businesses of providing financial protection for their staff, enhancing their wellbeing and improving employee engagement. Our membership includes insurers, reinsurers, intermediaries and those operating in (or with other interests in) the UK group risk market. Together this forms a collective wealth of experience built over many years. GRiD works with government departments and regulators involved in legislation and regulation affecting group risk benefits, and with other organisations involved in the benefits and financial protection arenas. GRiD also seeks to enhance the industry's standing by encouraging best practice and by participating in industry-wide initiatives such as the professional qualification in group risk managed jointly with the Chartered Insurance Institute.

GRiD’s media activity aims to generate a wider awareness and understanding of group risk products and their benefits for employers and employees.

GRiD's dedicated spokesperson, Katharine Moxham, provides expert media comment on a full range of group risk issues.
