GRiD Training Academy introduces industry accreditation for delegates

Press release 1 June 2021.

GRiD, the industry body for the group risk protection sector, will be running its successful Introduction to Group Risk Insurance training course in six bite-size workshops from 29 June 2021. The course, which is free for members and designed for individuals who have less than two years’ experience in the industry, covers products and markets; legislation, tax & trusts; scheme underwriting & pricing; market reviews, medical underwriting & claims; and industry roles, embedded services and Covid-19.

New end-of-course assessment

Following six weeks of 45-minute workshops, GRiD is introducing an optional online assessment which covers content from the course. On completing the assessment, successful delegates will be issued with a certificate confirming they have passed Foundation Level Training in group risk.

Katharine Moxham, spokesperson for GRiD said: "We decided to introduce this style of assessment to provide delegates with an industry-recognised accreditation that they have completed foundation knowledge training. This formalisation of the training demonstrates that the delegate is committed to our industry and their own personal career development.

“The accreditation is also beneficial to employers as they will have confidence that their staff have acquired new knowledge which will assist them in their day-to-day work. In particular, we feel it’s important that delegates come away from the training with a rounded view of the group risk marketplace in order to appreciate how their company and their own role fits into the bigger group risk ecosystem.”

The training course has already been delivered to over 300 people across the industry and received exceptional feedback: 98% of delegates say they would recommend the course to colleagues.

Course information:

  • Start date is Tuesday 29 June, 10:30am.
  • 6 online sessions of 45 minutes each over 6 consecutive Tuesdays.
  • Sessions will be recorded and made available for members on the GRiD website for catch-up purposes.
  • To enrol, individuals must be employees of GRiD members and have a log-in for the GRiD website.
  • The course is free to GRiD members and there is no limit on the number of delegates from a single member firm.
  • Training will be delivered over the WebEx platform.

Katharine Moxham concluded: “For group risk employers who have taken on junior members of staff or anyone just starting out in group risk, this is the definitive course covering an introduction to all aspects of our industry.”
