Ahead of Mental Health Awareness Week, Industry participants highlight the ongoing mental health concerns impacting staff wellbeing, but signs that employers are failing to embed the right culture persist, writes John Brazier.

The UK may be heading towards the latest round of Covid restrictions lifting later this month, but mental health strain felt by employees, particularly as workplaces reopen, are still being felt by staff according to industry experts.

While much has been said and written over the past year concerning the mental state of workers regarding work, home and financial worries, the latest round of industry reports reveal a disconnect between the concerns of staff and the actions undertaken by employers to address the situation.

New research from group risk protection trade body GRiD found that stress and anxiety are the leading cause of most health and wellbeing concerns among UK employees.
