Covid-19 inspires Sparta Health to join GRiD

Press release 5 August 2020.

Sparta Health, an independently owned workplace health, wellbeing and vocational rehabilitation consultancy and services provider has been inspired to join GRiD because of Covid-19.

Mark Howard, development director for Sparta Health said: ‘In this Covid-19, VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous), environment, we believe that it is vitally important for us to be involved, through GRiD’s influence and reputation, in the debate of how best we reimagine, rethink, reshape and reposition group risk protection to employers of all sizes.’

The company believes the response to Covid-19 needs to include adopting and building collaborative advantage, and being a member of GRiD will help them do this, with the aim to deliver appropriately constructed, valuable, cost-effective and meaningful insurance products and services to benefit as wide a range of employees as is possible.

Steve Bridger, chair of GRiD said: ‘This pandemic has been a particularly busy time for the group risk industry, and it’s been very humbling to work for an industry that has been able to support so many people in such a tangible, practical and financial way. It has also raised the profile of the importance and benefits of group risk products. The industry doesn’t stand still, we continually learn from experience and enhance our propositions, and this current crisis will, I’m sure, mean further learnings and enhancements. GRiD very much looks forward to working with Sparta Health in this area.’

About GRiD

Group Risk Development (GRiD) is the industry body for the group risk sector, promoting the value to UK businesses of providing financial protection for their staff, enhancing their wellbeing and improving employee engagement. Our membership includes insurers, reinsurers, intermediaries and those operating in (or with other interests in) the UK group risk market. Together this forms a collective wealth of experience built over many years. Under the chairmanship of Steve Bridger (managing director, Aviva Health UK) GRiD aims to promote group risk through a collective voice to Government, policymakers, stakeholders and employers.

GRiD works with government departments and regulators involved in legislation and regulation affecting group risk benefits, and with other organisations involved in the benefits and financial protection arenas. GRiD also seeks to enhance the industry's standing by encouraging best practice and by participating in industry-wide initiatives such as the professional qualification in group risk managed jointly with the Chartered Insurance Institute.

GRiD’s media activity aims to generate a wider awareness and understanding of group risk products and their benefits for employers and employees.

GRiD's dedicated spokesperson, Katharine Moxham, provides expert media comment on a full range of group risk issues.
