Pulse Insurance joins GRiD

Press release 6 April 2020.

The membership of GRiD (the industry body for the group risk protection sector) continues to grow with the addition of a new provider, Pulse Insurance.

As well as offering life, travel and other specialist insurances for those with complex needs, Pulse Insurance helps small to medium sized business clients in accessing tailored group risk cover – usually because they have complex requirements such as specific working conditions or locations.

By joining GRiD, Pulse Insurance wants to signal its commitment to the highest standards, to continue to innovate to support its clients, and improve access to insurance for all companies, whether they have staff overseas, their employees have health issues or if high sums are insured.

Paul Sandilands, chair of Pulse Insurance said: “We’ve made the decision to join GRiD at this time because we want to be part of a collaborative approach. The group risk insurance industry is becoming increasingly agile and innovative which is enabling more companies to obtain appropriate cover for their staff but there is still more that can be done. This is particularly so in promoting the availability of cover for businesses that have staff in Europe with the UK leaving the EU, which presents an opportunity. Via GRiD, we look forward to working together with some of the industry’s leading figures to support our own clients and the SME community as a whole.”

Joining GRiD is part of a number of developments the company is making as it increases its presence in the group risk market, including appointing Sue Clark who has great experience in life underwriting and will enable the company to quote and bind rapidly on a wide range of risk.

Steve Bridger, chair of GRiD said: “Pulse Insurance’s contribution will be hugely welcomed as we look to create wider awareness of the benefits of group risk insurance, particularly among smaller businesses. Pulse has at-the-coal-face experience of discussing insurance issues with particular audiences and this will also help inform the group.”

About GRiD

Group Risk Development (GRiD) is the industry body for the group risk protection sector, promoting the value to UK businesses of providing financial protection for their staff, enhancing their wellbeing and improving employee engagement. Our membership includes insurers, reinsurers and intermediaries who have a collective wealth of experience built over years of operating in the group risk protection market. Under the chairmanship of Steve Bridger (MD Group Protection, Corporate, Aviva UK Insurance) GRiD aims to promote group risk through a collective voice to Government, policymakers, stakeholders and employers.

GRiD works with government departments and regulators involved in legislation and regulation affecting group risk benefits, and with other organisations involved in the benefits and financial protection arenas. GRiD also seeks to enhance the industry's standing by encouraging best practice and by participating in industry-wide initiatives such as the professional qualification in group risk managed jointly with the Chartered Insurance Institute.

GRiD’s media activity aims to generate a wider awareness and understanding of group risk products and their benefits for employers and employees.
