Over a third of small-to-medium-sized firms are using flexible working to support staff compared to under a quarter of large firms
The study of 500 HR decision makers also found that 38% of micro business with between one and nine employees use flexible working as a means of reducing absence.
"The larger the workforce, the easier it is to offer flexible working but the harder it is to monitor it," said Katharine Moxham, spokesperson for GRiD. "If smaller businesses are making this work as an absence-management solution though, there is no reason why larger business couldn't do the same."
