GRiD launches training academy

Press release 6 June 2018.

GRiD, the industry body for the group risk industry, is launching a training academy. Committed to enhancing the industry’s standing by encouraging best practice, GRiD experts will provide training on the fundamentals of group risk to help those newer to the industry or who have limited support within their own companies. It’s open to both intermediaries and providers.

Two workshops kick off the academy, which will give people a good grounding in group risk. Areas covered include understanding the market, products and added-value benefits; through to taxation, legislation and underwriting.

The first workshop is in September, with a follow-up workshop in October. The training will be run by providers and intermediaries and will be interactive.

Katharine Moxham, spokesperson for GRiD said: ‘As an organisation, we are very good at sharing our knowledge with members, be that through our responses to consultation papers or answering specific queries, and this is a way for us to share our expertise on a wider scale. This is a dynamic industry, products are enhanced all the time to meet changing needs, and we all need to keep up to date with the impact of legislation. Our training academy is a great way for people to learn from those with more experience at the coalface.’

GRiD and the Chartered Insurance Institute jointly developed the professional qualification in group risk, GR1*. The GRiD workshops stand alone but would also be good grounding before taking this qualification, or as a follow-up to build market knowledge.

There is no cost to attend the workshops for members of GRiD. To find out more, please contact GRiD: grouprisk.org.uk/contact.
