HI Daily - Group risk industry unites on World Cancer Day

By Emily Perryman 5 February 2018.

The group risk industry has called on employers to support employees affected by cancer on World Cancer Day (4 February).

A study by Group Risk Development (GRiD), the trade association for the industry, shows cancer and other acute medical conditions account for nearly one in five (19%) long-term absences from work.

Cancer is the main cause of claim across all group risk products, yet employers are often surprised at the support that is routinely offered.

Support can include financial help, rehabilitation support, physiotherapy, occupational health, counselling and sign-posting to specialist charities.
