In 2016, 24,925 claims were made for group risk benefits, such as group life insurance, group income protection and group critical illness, according to research by Group Risk Development (Grid) published in May 2017.
Providers, such as Maxis Global Benefits Network, have observed that employers have been interested in controlling group risk benefit spend on a local level for the past 20 years, however, there is now an increased focus on managing these costs at a global level, particularly among larger organisations.
